Chance came to us from an out-of-state shelter, where he was a stray. He
was found with a bone stuck around his lower jaw. This must have been
frightening and painful to him, but he let the shelter personnel remove
it without so much as a squawk. The shelter attendants called him T-Bone.
His foster mom thought he needed a more dignified name, so she called him
Chance.
We are hoping his new name brings him luck, because he
needs it. He had a few health problems. He had painful crystals in his
urine, but these are almost gone now since he has been eating good food.
(He will need to be kept on high-quality food.) He has a slightly
enlarged heart and heart murmur, which is not unusual in an older
Doberman. The vet is not concerned, however.
Chance is “age
unknown.” It is often hard to tell with dogs that have lived a rough
life, but we think he is about 7 years old. He is a typically sweet,
loving red boy. He is dog friendly. Of course he adores people, even
after all he has been through. If you’d like a wonderful, adoring
companion, why not take a chance on Chance? He is waiting to be your
lucky charm!UPDATE: Chance is doing very well and his crystals have
resolved at this point. He has a great temperament and loves everyone and
everything. His best friend in his foster home is a small Boston Terrier
that he loves rolling around and playing with. Although he is somewhere
between 5 and 7 years old, he still has lots of energy but can also calm
down and be very relaxed. He loves to have his head rubbed and will lean
into you as long as you are petting him. We took him to a community event
where he met lots of people, including kids, and he did great with
everyone, just very lovable. He would be a great family dog!
Visitors are always welcome, by appointment only.
NOTE: An adoption application MUST be submitted in order
to be considered to adopt a dog through our program.
