Meet Hope, a scared girl that has made her way to us from Somerset, KY.
Hope’s owner has Alzheimer’s and his grandson was being paid to take care
of him but apparently did not care anything about the dogs. Hope was put
out in a pen with other large dogs that decided she was a chew toy. She
has bite marks all over her, a wound of a quarter size and open and so
many bites on her one elbow that it was extremely infected. Hope is also
very skinny which has not helped her health situation at all and our vets
say that she was only days away from not making it. She is in a foster
home currently where she is learning to overcome the fear of a leash and
become more confident with people while she heals and gains some weight.
We will keep you posted as we learn more about her. Hope is 2-3 years
old, red, natural eared female.
Updates: Hope has gone through
a couple episodes where she didn't want to eat any longer. She was
hospitalized, given fluids but nothing medical was discovered. Hope
is improving and recently underwent surgery to correct an issue with her
eye lashes turning in towards her eyes. She is recovering nicely.
Please consider donating to Hope's
care. Her hospital stay to handle her infection and wound care has
already increased to over $400. This does not include her spay or
vaccines and microchip.
Visitors are always welcome, by appointment only.
NOTE: An adoption application MUST be submitted in order
to be considered to adopt a dog through our program.
