Scotty

Are you looking for a great family dog? Here he is! Scotty has just arrived at Payton’s Place from a rural shelter. He was a cruelty case: his owner decided the dog was no longer worth feeding. The owner was ordered to surrender him or face charges. The nice shelter folks have sent Scotty to us so that he can have a new and better life.
Scotty recently turned 2 years old. He is red with mahogany markings, and has a docked tail and natural ears. He is thin right now, but we are building him up. He is highly social, trusting, and affectionate. He loves to lean and to have his belly rubbed. He’s smart, too, and is learning basic commands. He takes treats gently; he doesn’t even snatch really good stuff like roast beef. He allows himself to be handled, and he was calm during his bath. He seems to like other dogs and offered to play with Jake through the fence (we will know better once he’s been neutered and can be allowed to play). He rode with a (crated) kitten during his trip to the pick-up rendezvous and was not unduly agitated by it, so he may be trainable for cats. He’s been fine with the couple of kids he has met.

Visitors are always welcome, by appointment only.
