Bark, bark (or Hello in people talk),
My name is Kiu Jong, formally Winston. I was adopted
in Louisville KY, in October of 2006 from Southwest Ohio Doberman Rescue.
Even though the man who adopted me gave me a funny name he treats me very
well.
I live inside his house with a Beagle and two cats.
We all get along very well but the 15 year old cat is a little bit grumpy
at times, and I have two permanent scars on my snout to prove it. So,
whenever the grumpy old cat comes around I get up and move to my kennel or
another room. Some people think this is funny and laugh at me but I
consider it good judgment.
Most every morning I go running. Typically between 2
and 6 miles depending upon my mileage the previous day and
temperature/weather conditions. When I get tired and start to walk I am
never forced to continue but I do get scolded occasionally when I try to
chase squirrels during our morning run. My weekly average is approximately
18 miles. The veterinarian I visit says I am very gentle for the amount of
muscle and weight I have accumulated and I probably do not know my own
strength. Even though I weigh almost 90 lbs, I have very low body fat and
a strong heart. Plus deadly handsome good looks.
There are 4 young children who come to visit me.
Apparently they are my nieces and nephews. At first they were all scared
of me, like I am scared of that mean old cat, but now they all love me and
want to hug me. They think it is funny I do not have a tail but I really
don’t care as long as the keep scratching my back and head.
There are also some neighborhood children who like to
say hello when we are running. Sometimes we can stop but sometimes we are
in a hurry in the morning to get to work on time (what ever work is). Some
of their parents are scared of me because I am big and fierce looking but
the children know I am very sweet. Sometimes when the school busses go by
the children yell my name and it makes me happy.
Finally, did I tell you I really like squirrels?
When I am put outside in my fenced in Dog Lot with my little Beagle friend,
most of my time is spent searching the trees for squirrels. Why won’t they
come down and play with me? This confuses me so much! I keep barking at
them but they seem to get scared and avoid me. I bet that mean old cat
scratched their noses also.
I am so happy I was adopted from the Southwest Ohio
Doberman Rescue by this man who gave me a funny name. He is even thinking
of adopting another Doberman once he finishes remodeling his house. If he
does, I will have to warn the new dog about “you know who”, that mean old
cat!
Thankfully,
